Markdown Table Syntax
Markdown tables are plain text: a header row, a separator row, then data. The syntax is strict about pipe counts, which makes hand-writing them error-prone. This tool renders the structure for you — every row gets the same number of columns, alignment is handled by the separator row, and pipe characters inside cells are escaped automatically.
Alignment syntax
| Separator | Alignment |
|---|---|
:--- | Left (default) |
:---: | Center |
---: | Right |
Tips
- Keep cells short — very long cells make the raw Markdown hard to read, and most renderers don't need exact column widths.
- Use Import from Markdown to paste a table from a tutorial or an old file, edit it visually, and copy it back out.
- Escaped pipes (
\|) and multi-line cells (with<br>) stay valid in GitHub, GitLab and most Markdown renderers.
