Why you need a viewer
ChatGPT exports are a JSON tree (conversations.json with a nested mapping of messages); Claude's exports use a different structure; Gemini's another. Opening these in a text editor is miserable — a single long conversation is thousands of lines, and the official chat.html that ships with exports often fails on large files. This viewer:
- Detects the format automatically — ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini exports all work in one drop.
- Shows stats: conversation count, message count, approximate token usage per model.
- Searches across conversations and messages (type in the search box).
- Stays local: the file is parsed in your browser with the File API — it never leaves your machine.
How to get your export
- ChatGPT: Settings → Data controls → Export data. You receive an email with a ZIP containing
conversations.json. - Claude: Settings → Account → Export data (a JSON bundle of conversations).
- Gemini: Google Takeout → Gemini / Google AI apps → export (JSON files).
Exports can be hundreds of MB — this tool parses the file entirely in your browser; very large files may take a while.
