Anatomy of a URL
A URL (or URI) is built from a few parts: scheme://host:port/path?query#fragment. The scheme says how to talk to the server (https), the host is the domain, the path points at a resource, and the query carries parameters (key=value pairs) used by the server or the page's JavaScript.
Reading query strings
Query parameters are separated by & and each is a key=value pair. Order usually matters to the server, so this tool lists them in order. Values are percent-encoded — spaces become %20, & becomes %26 — and this parser decodes them for readability.
Why it matters
- Tracking links: UTM params (utm_source, utm_campaign) hidden in share URLs.
- API debugging: see exactly what the server receives.
- Redirects: spot a wrong port or a missing slash fast.
Everything runs in your browser — the URL is never sent anywhere.
